5/8erl in Ehr'n have become a rare breed: a band that was not put together and produced to produce quickly usable musical fast food, but has been working open-ended and without predefined aesthetics for over 18 years. The fact that this band still exists is a rejection of ego trips and a love letter to pluralism.

Max Gaier & Robert Slivovsky on the lead vocals form a classic two-piece storm, Hanibal Scheutz provides the foundation on the bass, Miki Liebermann grooves passionately on the guitar, Clemens Wenger on the electric piano is responsible for the warm sound of the combo.

The current program 18 Years of Viennese Soul is a best-of full of lightness, elegance, tenderness and self-irony. Hits like Siasse Tschik, Vaporizer, Wunderschöner Mai, Jessica, Breakfast in Bed, Alaba - How do you do?, or Badeschnell, among others, have made 5/8erl in Ehr'n known to an ever wider public. And so it can happen again that a regional radio station, a mainstream ear, an outdoor swimming pool and a jazz club hear the same song at the same time, and each have an idea of what might be meant.

The band has been touring regularly in Austria, southern Germany and Switzerland since 2006. 5/8erl has played almost 1000 concerts (sic!) in Ehr'n, won 6 Austrian Amadeus Music Awards in the Jazz/World/Blues category and has released 6 studio albums so far. The style of 5/8erl in Ehr'n is often referred to as Viennese soul.

How easy it is to express the completely uncomplicated feelings musically! (Peter Geiger, Mittelbayrische Zeitung)

The voices were so sweet, the melody so delicate, that even screaming children and groups of teenagers high on testosterone made their way to the exit, smiling peacefully and blissfully. (…) The group makes Viennese soul; and when they sing, you like the city a little more... (Cathrin Kahlheit, Süddeutsche Zeitung)

K.O. while sitting! (Karl Flurry, The Standard)
