Biography of the Pádua family

Família Pádua is a musical group formed 16 years ago by the musicians Antônio de Pádua (trumpet and cavaquinho and 7-string guitar), his wife Roberta Karin (vocals, drums), their son João Vítor (flute) and their eldest son, Matheus Jardim (drummer). The focus of the family's work is the dissemination of various genres of Brazilian popular music, always with a focus on their own compositions. These are rooted in their essence in Brazilian popular culture, but bring with them a modern, universal and contemporary language. The lively concerts, which show the versatility and essence of Brazilian music and thus the country's rich culture, are what the group joyfully gives to the audience. The Família Pádua has been living and working in Vienna since 2019 and has already had numerous performances at home and abroad. As a studied music teacher, Antônio de Pádua and his formation attach great importance to the element of communication. In the concerts and workshops of the Família Pádua, in which anyone who loves music can get involved, the connection between Latin American and European culture and musical traditions is explored together and their differences are celebrated. Balancing between modernity and tradition, sophistication and simplicity while inspiring people and encouraging them to make music is the group's passion. Brazil is a multicultural country that is home to a variety of rhythms due to its history. The musical journey goes from choro to jazz, MPB, tango and salsa and here and there seduces the Viennese waltz into a little intermezzo. All of this is part of the Família Pádua repertoire, offering the audience a show full of interactivity, surprises and cultural enrichment that shows that integration, art and fun can go hand in hand.
