The Hammond B-3 in top form

Raphael Wressnig is one of the absolute top Hammond organists. Hardly anyone else knows how to play the powerful sound of the B-3 with so much groove, energy and nuance. His style? Virtuosic, earthy and always deeply rooted in soul, blues and jazz. But Wressnig doesn't stand still - he continues to develop the classic sound of the Hammond organ trio of the sixties, making it powerful, present and bringing it to the stage with a freshness that is immediately captivating (Wressnig is regularly nominated for the Critics Poll of the renowned music magazine DownBeat as one of the best organists).

Together with guitarist Enrico Crivellaro and drummer Eric Cisbani, he unfolds a gripping mixture of new material and special tributes to the organ masters on Committed. Wressnig has written exciting new pieces - Southern Fried Chicken breathes the spirit of Jack McDuff, Jimmy McGriff and Jimmy Smith. Pilgrimage is reminiscent of the deep, spiritual sound world of Dr. Lonnie Smith - a special coincidence, as the organ legend played this piece on Wressnig's Hammond for the first time. Now Wressnig takes it up and reinterprets it - a circle that closes in an impressive way.

Wressnig's Hammond playing thrives on an almost inexhaustible palette of timbres, from vibrating basses to bright, gospel-soaked trebles. He makes the B-3 sing, growl and scream, while constantly exploring the limits of the instrument. Committed shows why the Hammond organ is timeless - and why Wressnig is someone who exploits its sound potential so intensively and embodies the passion of this instrument so wonderfully.
