SPIDERGAWD was formed in 2013 as a side project of the two Motorpsycho musicians Bent Sæther (bass) and Kenneth Kapstad (drums). The initial lineup was completed by singer and guitarist Per Borten and saxophonist Rolf Martin Snustad. The self-titled debut album was released in 2014 via Crispin Glover Records.
The second studio album, Spidergawd II, followed in 2015. In the same year, Spidergawd were awarded the Bendiksen Prize, a music award endowed with 100,000 kroner by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture.
The album Spidergawd III, released in 2016, brought the band their first chart position in their home country, reaching number 24. Also in 2016, founding member Bent Sæther left Spidergawd and was replaced by Hallvard Gaardløs.
Four more albums followed, with "Spidergawd VII" released in 2023.

In 2026, the band will embark on a European tour with a new album!
