Lucia di Lammermoor – Gaetano Donizetti
Experience Lucia di Lammermoor in the unique atmosphere of the crypt of St. Peter’s Church.
Donizetti’s moving version of “Romeo and Juliet” unfolds here as a gripping operatic drama. With an ideal cast, the tragic story of love, madness, and fate is told with an intensity that goes straight to the heart.
A particular highlight: Lucia’s famous mad scene aria — a crowning moment for every coloratura soprano and an unforgettable experience for the audience.
In a finely balanced, slightly shortened version without chorus and accompanied by piano, the focus is entirely on the great voices and the emotional expressiveness of the singers. The extraordinary proximity to internationally renowned artists creates a fascinating exchange of energy — an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
As Austria’s smallest opera theatre, KRYPTA stands for the highest quality and uncompromising directness. Deep beneath Vienna’s St. Peter’s Church lies an intimate space where opera becomes an unforgettable and deeply moving experience.
