Plot:
The impoverished young farmer Nemorino loves the beautiful and wealthy Adina. However, she rejects him. For his last bit of money, Doctor Dulcamara sells him a love potion that is supposed to make everything turn out well. But Adina turns the tables and agrees to marry the dashing Sergeant Belcore, who is ardently courting her. Nemorino sees his chances disappearing. There is only one solution: more magic potion. With no money left, he enlists as a soldier and uses his wages to buy more of the wonderful elixir. In reality, however, it is nothing more than red wine.
